The kids have had a few Dr. Suess books on the bookshelves since they were just babies that I have picked up here and there from yard sales but we haven't cracked one open since they are a little more advanced. This year since Hunter is going on "5" (Yes, I'm not letting that sink in yet) I decided that we would celebrate Dr. Suess' Birthday in order to introduce the kids to the books-
My original thought was to have a green eggs and ham breakfast but last time we had colored eggs (for Halloween) the kids were a little hesitant to eat them so Nate suggested green pancakes instead. So the menu consisted of: green chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, ham and Dr. Suess Hats (stacked strawberry's & bananas)
After breakfast we watched the "Cat in the Hat" movie and then moved on to crafts:
Do you see anything wrong with the picture above? Hunter is on the phone and Nate is crafting :)
We got Hunter back on track and he loved making thing 1 & thing 2 as well as Dr. Suess which I didn't get a picture of. He wanted to be thing 2 as he thought he was the older one.
Poor Livi was a bit under the weather but still had a good time...

We also started working on the "My Book about Me". I got one for Hunter & Livi but thought we would save Livi's until she is a little older. I completely recommend this book - it will be such a wonderful keepsake to have for the kids.
The rest of the day we relaxed and read a couple books (I completely forgot how long the Dr. Suess books are - WOW!) and then enjoyed a Dr. Suess cupcake and Jell-O with fish swimming in it (for - One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish) - picture still to come
For the rest of the week were reading a book a night and plan to do a few more crafts.
